Through its Community Engagement Committee, ARXG donated a Flag Retirement Drop Box to the Benton County Fair in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota.
Located in the Heritage Building as part of the fair’s America250 display, the kiosk gives visitors a convenient and respectful way to retire unserviceable American flags. The display also features patriotic activities for children and a Presidential History exhibit created by students from Sauk Rapids-Rice High School.
Proper flag retirement is an important way to show respect for what the American flag represents. When a flag becomes faded, torn, or otherwise unfit for display, it should be retired with dignity rather than placed in the trash or ordinary recycling. A dedicated collection box offers community members a clear and responsible option while helping ensure worn flags are handled in accordance with the U.S. Flag Code.
Following the fair, the drop box will remain permanently installed on the fairgrounds, providing year-round access to proper flag retirement.
ARXG thanks Benton County Fair General Manager Ashley Willenbring and the Benton County Agricultural Society Board of Directors for helping make this meaningful community resource possible.
